"Pram Strolling" - Notes

Theodore Volti  (2015)

Notes on my book of short stories ...

TheodoraWe all have a dark side, occupied by the 'shadow', which can be as autonomous, obsessive and possessive as we allow it to be…

With these thoughts in mind I published this small volume of stories, mostly occupied by female characters, although men also play an important role (only the last story is where the feminine part stays somehow in the background).

As for the exposure of non-prototype female characters- it is surely not because women are bad and men are not - but because I am a woman and "who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes."

In these pages you won't meet good mothers, wives, daughters or friends. There is an age progression as the stories unfold sequentially, but the forms of compulsive thinking encountered can be independent of age, I believe. The heroes may possess strong emotions but this does not prevent them from using reasoning to justify their deeds. "We should not pretend to understand the world only by the intellect. The judgment of the intellect is only part of the truth."

Whoever pays proper attention to the shadow has a better chance to transform one's psyche and take the path that leads to individuation.
